2023 Awards
The Dr. Carlessia Hussein Scholarship Fund, in support from the Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHoCo), is pleased to announce that 71 middle school boys in Howard County Public School System have been awarded the 2023 Dr. Carlessia Hussein Minority Scholarships. The scholarships will provide the children access to summer enrichment programs that encourage leadership, academic achievement, character development, expand problem‐solving skills and engender a sense of community. From 2016 to date, a total of 300 middle school boys have received scholarships.
2022 Awards
In May 2022, the Dr. Carlessia Hussein Scholarship Fund, with support from the Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHoCo), awarded scholarships to 39 middle school boys in Howard County Public School System. The scholarships provided the children access to summer enrichment programs that encourage leadership, academic achievement, character development, expand problem‐solving skills and engender a sense of community. From 2016 to date, a total of 233 middle school boys have received scholarships.
2021 Awards
In May 2021, the Dr. Carlessia Hussein Scholarship Fund, with support from the Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHoCo), awarded scholarships to 56 middle school boys in Howard County Public School System.
On June 18, 2020, Dr. Carlessia Hussein and the Community Foundation of Howard County (CFHoCo) hosted the 2020 Scholarship Awards Ceremony virtually by Zoom, recognizing and celebrating the 41 recipients of the 2020 Carlessia Hussein Minority Scholarships. Some of the awardees, their families, school officials, elected officials, some donors and supporters attended.
59 students received awards for summer classes. The 2019 Awards Ceremony was held May 21, 2019 at Howard Community College where families, school officials, elected officials and some donors attended.
26 students received awards. The 2018 Awards Ceremony held at the Elkridge Microsoft Training Center with families, Chairperson Calvin Ball of the Howard County Council and school representatives.
8 students received awards. The 2017 Awards Ceremony held at the Community Foundation of Howard County’s office with family members present.
